Meridian
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Meridian, Mississippi area.

Known as a "Carousel of Culture," Meridian boasts more than 40 horse sculptures mounted outside government buildings, shops, homes and the welcome center, reflecting status as the home for the historic Dentzel Carousel at Highland Park, the world’s only two-row stationary Dentzel menagerie model. Meridian cultural growth is evident via the Meridian Little Theatre, Meridian Museum of Art, and the 40-year-old Meridian Symphony Orchestra. Attractions include Merrehope, a 20-room Victorian mansion, used as General Leonidas Polk's Confederate headquarters and spared by Union General William T. Sherman. Other attractions include Bonita Lakes, a 3,300-acre park with three lakes, golf, nature trails, jogging, biking and more. The circa 1895 Causeyville General Store operates year-around with a working gristmill. Native son Jimmie Rodgers, a father of country music, is honored at both a museum and a grave site at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Other historic area graveyards include the Confederate Cemetery, Temple Beth Israel Cemetery, Oddfellows Cemetery, and the Sam Dale Monument and Grave Site, named for General Sam Dale, carrying a message for Andre Jackson from Georgia to the Battle of New Orleans. Meridian Regional Airport serves the area, and lodging includes budget and mid-priced motels, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and conference center facilities.
