Native son Jimmie Rodgers, a father of country music, is honored at both a museum and a grave site at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Other historic area graveyards include the Confederate Cemetery, Temple Beth Israel Cemetery, Oddfellows Cemetery, and the Sam Dale Monument and Grave Site, named for General Sam Dale, carrying a message for Andre Jackson from Georgia to the Battle of New Orleans. Meridian Regional Airport serves the area, and lodging includes budget and mid-priced motels, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and conference center facilities.
